The objective of baccarat is to bet on the outcome of a game played between the “Player” and the “Banker.”
At the game start, two cards will be dealt to each of the Player and the Banker.
The cards are revealed and whichever hand has a score closest to 9 wins. If the scores for both the player and the banker are low enough, a 3rd card can be drawn (see: Drawing Rules).
Card Values in Baccarat
All cards from 2 to 9 are counted at their face value and an Ace is counted as 1. Picture cards and tens are worth 0.
Hand Values in Baccarat
The hand value for the Player and the Banker is calculated by adding its card values. If the total is more than 9, only the second digit of the total is used. For example, a hand with a 7, a 5 and another 5 is worth 7 (7 + 5 + 5 = 17, and you only use the second value, 7).
Before the game is played you may place a bet on any of the available betting zones. The available betting zones may differ depending on the table settings.
Player and Banker Bets (1:1)
Player and Banker are the main betting zones and generally pay 1:1 when winning. A tied game will refund these bets. Due to the card drawing rules, the Banker has a small edge over the Player and will win slightly more often. Accordingly, a small commission is added to Banker bets. The commission is determined by the table’s commission setting (see: Commissions in Dragon Ace Casino).
Tie (8:1)
Tie is a side bet that pays when the game result is the same value for both the Player and the Banker.
Lucky 6 (12:1 / 20:1)
Lucky 6 is a side bet that pays when the game result is a Banker win with a hand value of 6. If the "Lucky 6" hand has two cards, the payout is 12:1. If it has three cards, the payout is 20:1.
Pair Bets (11:1)
Player Pair and Banker Pair are side bets that pay when the first two cards for the Player and the Banker respectively are the same rank. (e.g. two queens or two threes)
Player 8 (25:1)
Player 8 is a side bet that pays if the Player wins using 3 cards with a hand value of 8.
Banker 7 (40:1)
Banker 7 is a side bet that pays if the Banker wins using 3 cards with a hand value of 7.
